Akin

Helping a manufacturer show the full value of what it makes.

Akin already had products worth specifying. Matmon helped make their quality, purpose, and possibilities easier for the right people to see.

The gap was not product quality. It was product presentation.

A broad configurable line is hard to show. Line drawings and finish codes ask a designer to picture the result, and picturing it is where the spec goes somewhere else.

The gap was not product quality. It was product presentation: too few images per product, too little context about where a piece belongs, and no easy path from a catalog page to a real conversation.

Show the room before it exists in a photo.

Akin builds a configurable line. Line drawings and finish codes leave the designer guessing at the part that decides the order.

Matmon developed full room visualizations from Akin's own line drawings, finish options, and product references, so a collection could be seen composed as a set, in a specific wood finish and a specific palette, before any of it went in front of a camera. The same room can be rebuilt in a different finish or a different textile story without moving furniture.

Every finish and fabric, without a new photo shoot.

One approved frame can carry dozens of finish and fabric combinations. Shooting all of them was never going to happen.

Finish and fabric variations were produced from a single approved source image, so the catalog could show real combinations instead of a swatch list, and new options could be added without booking a studio.

Put the piece where it belongs.

Nobody is buying one chair. They are furnishing a guest room, a dining room, or a common area, and they need to see the room.

Lifestyle and application imagery places Akin pieces in senior living and hospitality settings, so an owner, operator, or designer can judge scale, pairing, and finish against the space they are actually working on.

Then put it in front of the people who specify.

Better images only help if the right people see them, and in senior living that list is short enough to name.

Work was aimed at the people who actually specify: designers and architects, senior living owners and operators, and the dealer network around them.

Senior living market research and audience development informed who the work should reach; email campaigns and clearer paths to product information, catalogs, and consultation gave those people somewhere to go next.

A dimensioned drawing becomes something a specifier can judge.

Akin’s engineering drawings carry the dimensions, but they do not show finish, grain direction, hardware, or how a piece reads next to everything else in a room. Matmon builds the render from the drawing and the approved finish specification, so a product can be shown and specified before a sample is built.

Four phases, in the order they mattered.

Phase names describe the sequence of the engagement. Durations are not published here because they varied by product group and approval cycle.

Understand

The line, the finishes, the markets, and the way specifiers actually shop it.

Visualize

Renderings, finish and fabric variations, and application scenes built from real product references.

Present

Improved product presentation across the catalog and website, with a path from a page to a conversation.

Reach

Research, audience development, and email aimed at designers, owners, operators, and dealers.

Results, only where they can be verified.

When Akin has documented results and approved sharing them, we will publish them here with the source and the time period. Until then this page sticks to what we built.

The images on this page are Akin’s own product photography and renderings we produced for them.
