Google My Business How-To

Google My Business (GMB) is a great tool you can use to capitalize on your digital traffic. After you’ve claimed your account, you can make posts that can be useful for transforming digital traffic into actual foot traffic. It has been shown that you have a high chance of conducting a searcher into a customer especially if you’ve optimized your page and you’re actively creating meaningful content on your page.

However, posting on GMB is a bit different than posting on Facebook or Instagram.

Here are a few GMB best practices to keep in mind when creating posts.

  1. Use GMB to update your audience on specials, happy hours, events, and limited time offers. Don’t use GMB daily. Posts are live for 7 days, so aim to update GMB twice a month or so.

  2. Keep in mind that only the first 100 characters usually show up in the post preview. It is best to keep your message to two sentences or less as this has been shown to be most effective.

  3. Add some imagery. Images, videos, and gifs garner more engagement. You can add up to 10 pieces of content per post – so add some flair to your text.
