Outlook® 2003 E-Mail Settings

Before you start the configuration process, make sure the program has been installed and is running properly.

On Windows XP, follow these instructions:

  • Click Start, and then hold your cursor over the Settings.
  • Click Control Panel.
  • Click Switch to Classic View, and then double-click Mail.
  • In the Mail Setup dialog box, click Show Profiles.
  • On the General tab, click Prompt for a profile to be used, and then click Add.
  • In the Profile Name box, type a descriptive name (your domain can be used) for the new e-mail profile, and then click OK.
  • In the E-mail Accounts dialog box, click Add a new e-mail account, and then click Next.
  • Choose POP3 then click Next.

Looking at the screen shot below, fill in the text blocks as described below:

User Information

  • Your Name: Your name — it doesn’t have to be your login name.
  • E-mail Address: userid@yourdomain.com

Server Information

  • Incoming mail server (POP3): pop.yourdomain.com
  • Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.yourdomain.com
  • Click on More Settings … then go into Outgoing Server tab and check My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication.
  • When you are done, click OK, then click Next.
  • Click Finish and you are finished.
