What They Do:

John Deere Green Tech offers state-of-the-art pre-packaged landscape and irrigation management tools for the green industry with one goal in mind: make irrigation and landscape management efficient and cost effective.

How We’ve Helped:

Another powerful tool in Matmon’s repertoire is the ability to craft custom applications for our clients. After all, the web isn’t one-size-fits-all world. Out-of-the-box, third-party solutions are a great fit for many situations, but sometimes the functionality a customer needs just isn’t offered in the market. When that’s the case, Matmon has the technical chops to code one-of-a-kind, custom-fit solutions. A great example is the work we’ve done for John Deere Landscapes (JDL). JDL needed a way to help visitors to their Green Tech site choose from a large selection of pumps and irrigation systems and request a cost estimate. With hundreds of options and tens of thousands of possible configurations, the site needed a dynamic, database-backed application that would help customers navigate through the complex dependencies. Previously, this process had been taken care of by sale representatives leafing through catalogs. To solve JDL’s problem, Matmon built a custom application-using Ruby on Rails, Ajax, and MySQL that allows JDL’s customers to piece together the irrigation systems that best meet their needs. The application handles all of the compatibility issues and offers helpful descriptions of each part. In the end, the customer receives an aggregate part number that represents their specific configuration and is put in touch with a human sale representative for a cost estimate. Once the contract is signed, the information gathered on the JDL site is forwarded to the fulfillment department for use in assembling and shipping the purchased products. The impact of Matmon’s custom application service reaches beyond the sales department web site, though. Another JDL application formatted for mobile devices helps service specialists in the field access customer information, process repair requests, and generates reports on warranty or repair status. The possibilities for custom-made solutions are as endless as the clients’ business needs that drive them. Custom application development is one more way that Matmon goes about achieving real results for its clients. Call or write us today to find out what Matmon can do for you.
